The Escambia Sun-Press was founded in October
of 1948 by Paul and Jean Driver.
Paul had many years of experience in newspaper
production, previously working for the Mobile
Press Register and the Pensacola News Journal.
Feeling the time was right, Paul quit his job
at the Pensacola News Journal, and started the
Warrington Sun, a small weekly community newspaper.
The paper did well, and slowly started specializing
in the publication of legal notices, which was
a hit with it’s subscribers because of
the great investment opportunities, such as foreclosure
sales, sheriff’s sales, mini warehouse
sales, tax deeds, etc.

In 1962 the Warrington Sun had the opportunity
to purchase the Escambia County Press and did
so, combining the resources of both publications,
and naming the newspaper the Escambia Sun-Press.
Today the Sun-Press does the vast majority
of all legal publications in Escambia County,
and is considered by most to be Escambia County’s
legal newspaper.

Aside from legal publications, the Sun-Press
has a great reporter with many years of experience,
who couples interesting, local and national
stories that you won’t find anywhere
else.
After almost six decades of existence, we
are very proud of the Sun-Press and its’ supporters,
and employees, and still feel it is a great
value where you get the best bang for the
buck.
Pensacola is growing at an unbelievable rate
and we truly hope to be serving our subscribers
for another 58 years.
