on law and order marches on in America.
We are unable to halt the flow of illegal drugs into
the country or the production of domestic illegal
drugs from within.
We are unable to stem the tide of illegals crossing
our borders, establishing themselves and their families.
Then calling on the government to lend them support
for housing, schooling, health care and the like.
Not that every national election was ever simon
pure in its honest tabulations, but 2008 seems to
have provided the most charges ever of voter corruption.
The matter of vote counting is out of hand in some
areas and no one seems to give a tinker's damn about
it. Democrats love it and Republicans are too timid
to speak up.
We are sitting by idly watching a U.S. Senate seat
in Minnesota being awarded under highly suspicious
conditions. Other aberrations: Florida has 30,000
convicted felons registered to vote in the face of
a law that returns to vote to convicts only through
TV stations conducted a "light" survey
(meaning they didn’t go into depth to get the
full numbers) but quickly concluded that at least
112,000 voters are registered in more than one state
and thus have the ability to vote twice. Florida
is a lush state for this practice as many "residents” maintain
two homes; one here, the other "up North." This
is going to take time to check? Better yet, who cares?
Several precincts in states like Pennsylvania, Ohio
Indiana and Illinois reported more registered voters
Ohio reported a surge of voter fraud but its Secretary
of State declined to dig deeply into the matter.
The so called " citizens group" called ACORN
is cited in a score of states for registering fictitious
names, multiple registrations and other distortions
in getting people registered to vote. ACORN, which
gets both government and Democrat financial backing,
responds by saying “no one is perfect." The
Justice Department declines to investigate. A spot
check in Houston found 2,000 registered voters names
came out of the graveyards, ala Chicago and the machine
politics of the big cities.
Liberal groups have worked incessantly to make it
simple for a person to become a registered voter. You
can sign up at the motor vehicle bureau, the food stamp
office. Nursing homes are a Pandora's Box for additional
voter sign-ups, especially if the new voter is catatonic.
A poll watcher in the Pittsburgh area cited a routine
voting of absentees by officials running the office.
A list was kept of those registered but who didn’t
vote, providing the extra hours collection.
That poll worker was sent home early.
As registering to vote becomes easier, so does the
opportunity to commit fraud. Voting a month in advance
by mail, so called early voting and absentees seem
proper and efficient for both voters and the vote counters.
Unfortunately, it also broadens the opportunity for
violations and corruption.
There is an old saying that says “He who counts
the votes wins the election." The inattention
given to insuring an honest system makes that old bromide
